Join us at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 for the Miami Film Festival GEMS screening of “Left-Handed Girl” (2025), directed by Chinese filmmaker Shih-Ching Tsou.

After several years of living in the countryside, a single mother and her two daughters return to Taipei to open a stand at a buzzing night market. Each in their way will have to adapt to this new environment to make ends meet and maintain family unity.

But when their traditional grandfather forbids his youngest left-handed granddaughter from using her “devil hand,” generations of family secrets begin to unravel.

Co-written, produced, and edited by Oscar winner Sean Baker, who is fresh off his Best Picture win for “Anora” and also known for “Red Rocket,” “The Florida Project,” and “Tangerine.” Baker and director Shih-Ching Tsou previously co-directed the Sundance hit “Take Out” in 2004.

Tickets are $16.50 and available at link above (while supplies last).

Now in its 12th year, Miami Film Festival GEMS brings the year’s biggest films to Miami along with filmmaker appearances, seminars, parties, and special events.

Formerly known as MIFFecito, Miami Dade College and the Miami Film Festival introduced Gems in 2014 as a seven-day event featuring 10 red-carpet premieres and in-person appearances. it was rebranded as GEMS Film Festival in 2015.
