Kendrick is an expat, semi-retired and once celebrated novelist living in Shanghai, China. Kay is a young, up-and-coming Asian-American writer in Miami. The connection between them? A shared correspondence through which they examine each other’s lives, cultures, challenges, and their burgeoning relationship.
As an unplanned baby, age-old prejudices, a seemingly doomed wedding and a precarious book deal force them to reckon with the reality of their lives, Kendrick and Kay begin to question whether everything was as simple as they once thought it was, and whether their correspondence has any purpose.
Co-directed by Peter La Fata and Kefan Zhang, Correspondence was shot in Miami and Shanghai. The screening is the final installment in the School of Communication’s ongoing Social Inclusion Film Series.
Running time: 51 minutes.
