Celebrate screen icon Catherine Deneuve with three of her classic films shown on 35mm. This summer the Norton Herrick Center presents Cosford Classics with a series THE DIVINE DENEUVE looking at three spectacular films starring Catherine Denevue. In addition, the Cosford will be playing contemporary Catherine Deneuve films, such as IN THE NAME OF MY DAUGHTER. Please join us for these exclusive screenings presented on 35mm as Cosford Classics. Tickets for the Divine Deneuve screenings are only $5.

ORSON WELLES'S THE STRANGER

The Norton Herrick Center for Motion Picture Studies and Nuray Pictures are proud to present a new 2k restoration of Orson Welles’s THE STRANGER to commemorate the maverick’s centennial birthday. THE STRANGER is an intriguing noir-thriller with stunning images in which An investigator from the War Crimes Commission (Edward G. Robinson) travels to Connecticut to find an infamous Nazi, who may be hiding out in a small town in the guise of a distinguished professor (Orson Welles). Also co-starring Loretta Young. SPIKE LEE'S DO THE RIGHT THING on 35MM

Director Spike Lee dives head-first into a maelstrom of racial and social ills, using as his springboard the hottest day of the year on one block in Brooklyn, NY. Three businesses dominate the block: a storefront radio station, where a smooth-talkin' deejay (Samuel L. Jackson) spins the platters that matter; a convenience store owned by a Korean couple; and Sal's Famous Pizzeria, the only white-operated business in the neighborhood. Sal (Danny Aiello) serves up slices with his two sons, genial Vito (Richard Edson) and angry, racist Pino (John Turturro).

HITCHCOCK'S VERTIGO on 35mm

John "Scottie" Ferguson is a retired San Francisco police detective who suffers from acrophobia and Madeleine is the lady who leads him to high places. A wealthy shipbuilder who is an acquaintance from college days approaches Scottie and asks him to follow his beautiful wife, Madeleine. He fears she is going insane, maybe even contemplating suicide, because she believes she is possessed by a dead ancestor. Scottie is skeptical, but agrees after he sees the beautiful Madeleine.

Cosford Cinema presents a special run of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE in 4K Digital Projection. Frank Capra’s paean to small-town values and the ordinary guy who does the right thing is a classic story of redemption and second chances, with James Stewart as a man who’s come to the end of his rope one Christmas Eve and Donna Reed as the high-school sweetheart who became his wife. The supporting cast includes Lionel Barrymore, Beulah Bondi, Ward Bond and Gloria Grahame.
