A direct inspiration for the classic TV series BEWITCHED, I MARRIED A WITCH marries the supernatural with screwball comedy. From the classical era of Hollywood, and starring Veronica Lake as the blond bombshell on a broomstick, the film seemingly emphasizes the significance of heteronormative union as the happy ending. However, a more nuanced examination reveals an “unnatural” union between man and witch. With themes of female vengeance and the forgiving power of love, I MARRIED A WITCH may well be a queer screwball comedy.
