FLAMING CLASSICS: THE CRAFT

  • "THE CRAFT should please teenage girls at malls everywhere."
    -ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

The connection between witches and outcasts of society resurfaces in THE CRAFT. The theme is solidified with the feeling of ostracization indicative of the high school environment (a particularly queer experience), centered on four young women who operate outside the parameters of acceptable femininity discovering the occult. The women find power not only in witchcraft but also through their collective female friendship. Ultimately the female union is disrupted by the pursuit of power, but the film gives its queer audience the joy of seeing the weirdos win for once.

Performance by Kurt Fowl.
